What Makes Relationships Important – In Meditation?

We’ve been getting through a tough health ordeal and are humbled by the outpouring of support from friends and family. We all know how helpful relationships are in situations like this is, but do you also know what makes relationships important in meditation?

Cultivating friendships is a skill set that requires a commitment of time and meaningful interaction. It always pays off when you are in difficult situations. I’ve also learned that your relationships in meditation require the same relationship nurturance.

In my next workshop, the Essential Elements of A Fruitful Mediation Practice, I will detail how you can you use meditation to cultivate relationships that are helpful throughout all phases of your life. I welcome you to attend – it’s on Wednesday May 30th from 6:30-8:30 PM at Centered , 309 N. Ashland Ave, Lexington, KY.

In the meantime, let me give you an overview of this aspect of the class –  the importance of relationships in meditation.

How Meditation Honors You

Undoubtedly, the most important relationship meditation will cultivate is one with yourself. By slowing down and giving your mind a rest from its constant chattering thoughts, you allow yourself to connect to your inner truth.

When you sit long enough to find internal silence – yes, it can take a while – you will start to hear your own wisdom. No matter what is happening, hearing your own truth is the best way to find the solutions that will create resolution to your life problems.

Discovering the truth of your own mind is the best path to knowing yourself.

How Meditation Connects To Higher Energies

Whether you believe it or not, we all have higher order energetic entities looking over us. We each have spirit guides, animal guides and ancestors. These are accompanied by various angelic guides and ascended masters who will respond when you call on them. Depending on your beliefs, calling on God, ascended masters or any of your guides is the start of a relationship.

When you meditate you are essentially raising your energy, which makes it easier for higher vibration entities to connect with you. By asking for a relationship with any one of them and initiating the conversation, you open the pathway for them to reveal themselves to you.

As in any relationship, when you initiate communication with higher energetic entities, you are opening the door to a connection.

How To Nurture Your Mediation Relationships

As in any relationship, there are things required to maintain it. If you are always asking for your needs to be met, without showing appreciation and thanks, you are setting up a one sided and selfish interaction. As you know, relationships won’t last or be fruitful on those terms.

I recommend that you always start with thanks and appreciation. If you have a place you meditate or an alter, put flowers, candles, pictures or things that are symbolic and relevant to your guides and ascended masters. It’s like giving a gift to someone you love – the more personal and appropriate it is, the more it is appreciated.

You honor your relationship with your guides in the same way you do with someone you love.

How Meditation Changes Over Time

Relationship patterns change over time depending on our needs. Just as your closest friends change over time, your guides appear as they are needed. As Lao Tzu says, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”.

As the quote implies, you will have different guides reveal themselves to you depending on what you are asking and addressing in your life. For example, I’ve had powerful animal guides come in when I needed their protection and then I may not see them for a quite a while. Guides who teach me come in many forms, depending on what I am asking and seeking. Some are constant and others, especially the higher energetic ones, will come in for the tougher assignments. It’s the most rewarding and fascinating aspect of my meditation practice

Just as our friendship patterns change over time, your spirit interactions change based on your needs.

I hope this review piques your interest in discovering or enhancing your relationship with yourself and with energetic entities in meditation. It has truly been the most exciting, fascinating and personally rewarding aspect of my meditation practice. Not only do you gain a deeper relationship with your own wisdom, you develop a long-term relationship with your guides. It’s important to honor these relationship, just as we do with our loved ones – gifts that are symbolic and significant to them are a way to show our gratitude. Over time, these relationship change, ebbing and flowing as all our relationships do. It is one of the most fruitful and life altering aspect to meditation.
