How do you know when it is time for something new, to break out of old ruts? This has been on my mind as I consider my work and the direction of our non-profit. Last year was super busy and yet I had a slight sense of dissatisfaction. I think I was too busy, without being creative. I realize those feelings are my motivation to push myself in new directions this year.

We all have our routines and over time, they start to run our life like it’s being run into the ground. I am always more excited and passionate when I’m on the leading edge of change. That’s why I like the Manifestation Master Class workshop I’m conducting on Feb. 8th, it provides a platform and template to take a full look at the why, what, when and how of your current and future manifestations.  Manifestation Master Class  *

To help you consider if this is a good time to reevaluate your life and its direction, consider the following symptoms that can indicate that it is time for you to try something new.

You have likely heard Einstein’s definition of insanity – “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.  We all do this around different things. We try harder, we try tweaking it a bit hoping it will make a difference. My fallback is to keep working harder and longer. At some point you have to acknowledge your feelings and the lack of outcomes you are seeking.

The solution can be simple and surprising, as I have found. Try breaking out of your routine. It requires fresh eyes to find new perspectives and that comes when you change things up, helping to launch yourself in new directions. I found that switching what I do to different days freed up much needed time to reflect and rejuvenate.

A new routine can surprise you with new perspectives and new outcomes.

Most everyone I know, including me, has a wonderful live.  So, what do you do if you have a sense of restlessness or vague discontent? You can refocus on gratitude and fully appreciate the bounty of your life, after all, most of our discontents are first world problems, or you can ask yourself a few questions.

Since life is generally good, maybe it’s time to stretch yourself in new directions. Is it time to travel, study, or learn something new? What would that look like, what’s been calling to you that you haven’t considered or tried? Give yourself the opportunity and see what happens. This year will be a year of travel to countries I’ve never been to and applying the new things I’ve learned. I’m excited for this expansion.

Allow yourself to try something new – expand yourself in new directions.

I hear this often in my clinical practice. People come to see me because they have a sense that something is missing, but they can’t identify it. I love this because it’s a sign that the unconsciousness mind is speaking up and asking for more conscious consideration. It’s an opportunity for deep reflection and new direction.

I recommend developing a meditation or mindfulness practice. It has changed my life in profound ways. It provides answers to questions, new inspiration and a sense of connection to the whole. Sitting in silence, listening to guided meditations, walking mindfulness meditations or a structured spiritual practice connects you to your wise mind that already knows the answers to what you desire, and connects you to something greater than you. If you seek it, you’ll find a practice that will honor and enhance yourself at the deepest level.

No matter your beliefs, you can find what you seek by deepening your connection to your wise mind and the divine.

This is a tough one, the sense that you are doing your best, yet it’s still not fulfilling your full potential. If you ever have a glimpse of your full potential – stop in your tracks and embrace the moment. You are having a breakthrough that is speaking to you. Pay attention.

If this speaks to you, it’s time to take yourself seriously and take the chance to reach higher. Imagine, the starting point for all change, what your full potential looks like. It might be a better feeling place; it might be doing something different or it might be an acceptance of who you really are. Whatever it means to you – grasp it and honor it. It’s time.

“If you can imagine it,  you can achieve it, it you can dream it, you can do it.” William A. Ward.

If the desire for something new is calling to you, I hope you will take it seriously and consider the following signs and the options they offer. The same outcomes to the same problems mean it is time to switch things up. Restlessness and discontent can mean it’s time to travel, learn or do something else.  A sense that something is missing can indicate it’s time to deepen, connect to your wise mind and discover the spiritual aspects of life. If embracing your full potential is calling you, take it seriously and move yourself in that direction. It’s all possible.

If you’d like some structure to explore this further, I recommend my Manifestation Master Class 2020 on Feb. 8th at Centered. It offers a deep dive into the 7 Laws of the Universe that guide transformation and manifestation. This class will take you on a journey of self-discovery that can answer many questions and set you on your path.
