Don’t you love noticing coincidences? This past weekend was full of them. It was our anniversary, we have always wanted to go to Chicago together and Chicago had the Jazz Fest going on, a special Gaugin exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago and an Abraham-Hicks seminar. When that kind of alignment occurs, I pay attention. I was ready for all of it.

What I wasn’t fully prepared for was the dynamic and totally absorbing information flowing from Abraham-Hicks. If you are not familiar, Ester and Jerry Hicks are the authors of dozens of books with information on how to live a more fulfilling life – the information spoken by Ester comes from a group of non-physical entities who go by the name Abraham.

If this sounds weird to you, read one of their books that have been on the best seller lists for over 20 years.* You know you are reading truth. When Ester started talking about “why we are here” you could hear a pin drop in the packed audience of 800. It’s the kind of information that literally changes your life. I know, it continually changes mine.

While I’m not able to capture the humor and delightful interaction that occurs between Abraham and people who are called to ask questions, it’s my pleasure to share a brief synopsis of what I learned at the Abraham Hicks workshop.

There’s a simple 5 step process to get what you want from life – all leading to why we’re here:

1. Ask For What You Want

One of their first books, that continues to be one of the most poignant, is “Ask and It Is Given”. Asking for what you want is the starting point for our growth and expansion and manifesting what we want to bring into our life.

Get clear on what will make your happy and meaningful.

2. Notice How Your Soul Answers

Our soul, or source energy as they call it, will resonate positively or negatively to what we say we want. Pay attention – are you excitedly expectant about it coming to you or are you feeling conflict, overwhelmed or anxious about the thought of it.

Not sure of what your soul is saying to you….meditate. Quieting your mind for as little as 15 minutes a day will make you more receptive to knowing your inner truth – your soul’s knowing.

Let your soul be your guide to what you say you want in your life.

3. Be In The Receiving Mode

Most of us fall short of bringing in what we say we want in life because we aren’t open to receiving it. The process is often gradual and we may not notice we’re already receiving it or it may be in forms we don’t recognize. Most often our pessimism of receiving resists and blocks the very thing we say we want.

Allow the flow of what’s wanted into your life by being optimistic that it will arrive.

4. Tune Into The Broader Perspective

Just as we turn a radio dial to find the station we like, we can tune into broader perspectives that help us notice and allow. Our soul knows the path of least resistance and the clues of our path unfolding in front of us are shown to us when we’re open to their subtle nature. The clues are the surprises and coincidences that indicate things are unfolding as you want.

Clues of receiving what we want are easier to read when we are open to noticing them from a broader perspective.

5. Clarify Your Asking By Noticing the Contrast

There are always indicators of what we don’t want in front of us. They serve the purpose of helping us clarify our asking. Recognize them as helpful contrast and not something to be upset about. Use them to help refine what you are asking for, it creates a never-ending process of refinement and expansion.

The contrast of what we don’t want helps clarify what we do want

Joy Is In the Journey

The point isn’t to manifest – the point if to be in the process of manifesting. It’s not about having created something – it’s about creating. Life is an unfolding process, relax more, chill out more and enjoy the journey.

We know this – it’s the journey not the destination that counts…start enjoying it

Why We’re Here – Joyous Expansion

So what’s the point of our life….by going through the 5 steps and enjoying the journey we joyously expand ourselves. By clarifying what you want to learn, what you want to do, where you want to go, and who you want to be with you are in a state of allowing your life to flow with ease. Life is supposed to feel good!

Being on the leading, expanding edge of your life is joyous – that’s the point!

These simple concepts from Abraham-Hicks are interconnected to provide a guide to making life more satisfying, fulfilling, and pleasurable. Ask for what you want, notice your soul’s answer, allow yourself to receive, pay attention to the clues that what you want is coming by adapting a broader perspective and use the contrast of what you don’t want to help refine your asking. By following your joy, you will be in a state of allowing – living a joyously expanding life!
