As we celebrate the 4th of July and our nation’s history of achieving freedom from oppression, I’m reflecting how we all long for personal freedom. For many of us, there is a push-pull dynamic between doing what seems necessary to create a secure lifestyle and doing what really speaks to us. Which call should we heed?

I’d like to review ways our soul communicates with us so we’ll know our greater good, how it guides us and gives us the information we need to make soul smart decisions. When we tune into these forms of information, we can make decisions that are more aligned with our nature.

Unfortunately, most people follow the path of social expectation that is more fear based.  The fear based path tells us we won’t be good enough or make it in life unless we do xyz. it’s competitive, power oriented, approval seeking, judging and based on pumping up our ego. If these choices are not consistent with who we are, we Invariably feel unfulfilled and disconnected from our true nature. It’s just a matter of time before these choices create dissatisfaction and other forms of internal crisis.

So let’s look at ways our soul informs us. Several of these are positive things that happen early in our decision-making process that fill us with joy, the others often come after we’ve made decisions that are not correct. They all serve the same purpose – to help us get on track to claim our personal freedom; a life based on personally fulfilling terms.

We’ve all had them – those sudden flashes of insight and ideas that come out of the blue. They are the inspiration being fed to us by our soul. They are the bedrock of information that tells us ways we can carve a path that uses our gifts. When we listen and follow these ideas, we are often following our hearts true nature.

These ideas are usually exciting and tailor made to use our strengths. They come in on every possible topic from the creative arts to business concepts. My entire business path has come to me this way, which makes it very rewarding and fulfilling. My husband’s music is the same way. The most clearly identified quality of these soul ideas is the surge of enthusiasm and motivation we experience when we take hold of them.

Think about those inspired ideas you’ve had – have you headed their call?

The inspired ideas often become reinforced by random serendipitous corollary things that happen that support the idea. My desire to launch my business is constantly being reinforced by meeting the right people or finding the right information. Lee’s music ideas get reinforced by meeting people with specific talent or interest in what he’s doing. We are getting spurred along our path.

Whether we listen and follow the path that is being shown to us or not, we are being guided to see that we have options. Life on our terms that fits with our talents and gifts can be as individual as we allow.

Notice the correlating serendipitous alignment of people and opportunity that support your inspirations.

You also know the quiet voice of your conscious that tells us our truth. This is our soul communicating with us. It can come in a flash, like inspiration does, often at very important junctures. It can come in when you’re not able to sleep, tossing and turning. It’s simply a knowing that informs us.

A friend talked about being at the alter and hearing her internal truth that this marriage wasn’t in her best interests. It would be years later, after much suffering, that she finally heeded her soul. It happened when my husband accepted a job, but his restless sleep told him it wasn’t right. It can tell us whether someone is a friend or foe. It’s our soul’s knowing coming through.

Listen for the quiet voice of your conscious, it’s your soul trying to get your attention to redirect you.

Our body often holds the feeling and physical consequences of not heeding our soul’s messages. All manner of feeling states from anxiety to depression can be the result of not listening to your soul’s truth and keeping yourself imprisoned in situations that don’t meet your true needs.

Physical symptoms from the stress of living out of alignment can range from HBP to back pain to obesity. Our body holds and speaks our truth too – our soul is longing for us to wake up and notice what’s missing.

Pay attention to the stress your body is holding – what is it telling you?

Sometime the soul’s message is something as simple as a deep longing for something more. It’s quiet, it’s existential. It may be connected to physical or emotional symptoms and can include the voice of our conscious. It’s all working together to get our attention.

Yes, when we don’t head the call of our soul, something is missing. We long to find the joy of our life that comes when we use our god given gifts for something that has meaning.

Do you ever long for something more in your life – pay attention – your soul is speaking to you.

Our soul speaks to us in many forms. At any time, we can listen and understand it’s meaning. It’s never too late.to change direction and follow its siren call. Every path you take can eventually take you where you want to go, when you listen to your own internal signals.  Life on your souls’ terms is always more satisfying for it embodies your truth and gives you personal freedom.

Can you identify any of the signs that your soul is longing to make changes? How wonderful that you know this!
